Joint International Speech Contest and Table Topic Contest 2010

On the 2nd Feb 2010, MEF TMC and Seberang Jaya TMC had organized a Joint International Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest at Safira Club. Around 50 people has turned up for this event.

Speech contest are important part of the Toastmasters International education programme. Speech contest provide an opportunity for proficient speakers to gain contest experience, and they provide interesting educational programmes for members and the public. They also allow those Toastmasters who are not participating in the contest to learn by observing proficient speakers.

The result of the competition are as below:

A) International Speech contest

Champion : TM Celine Choy
1st Runner Up : TM Lee Yee Siong, ACB, CL

B) Table Topic Contest

Champion : TM Lee Yee Siong, ACB, CL
1st Runner Up : TM MC Liu
2nd Runner Up : TM Kenny Lee, CC, ALB

All the champion and 1st Runner up for both International Speech Contest and Table Topic Contest will be representing our beloved MEF TMC for the next level which is Area Level Contest on 7 March 2010 competing against winner from Area S4 and Area S8 .

MEF TMC achieved Distinguish Club level

Congratulation to MEF TMC for achieving Distinguish Club status at early time!!!!!!!!!
Information about the qualification needed to achieve it is as below:

Distinguished Club Program

Toastmasters International's Distinguished Club Program/Club Success Plan focuses on Club education and membership growth. All Clubs are automatically considered in the Distinguished Club Program, which begins July 1st and ends the following June 30th. Progress is tracked at World Headquarters based on information submitted by the Clubs.

10 Goals

1. Two CCs
2. Two more CCs
3. One ACB, ACS, or ACG
4. One more ACB, ACS, or ACG
5. One CL, AL, or DTM
6. One more CL, AL, or DTM
7. Four new members
8. Four more new members
9. Minimum four officers trained each training period
10. One semi and one officer list submitted on time

Membership Requirement:

At year-end a club must have At least 20 members, or a Net growth of at least five new members

Clubs that meet the membership requirement and do the following earn recognition:

- Achieve 5 of 10 goals achieves Distinguished Club

- Achieve 7 of 10 goals achieves Select Distinguished Club

- Achieve 9 of 10 goals achieves President's Distinguished Club

Just for general sharing, MEF TMC is one of the 5 clubs who achieved it on the second term.
